Following a smashing success at their 2021 European debut in Switzerland, Grinduro, the seminal mixedterrain event, where having a good time at the party is just as important as going fast in the race, has announced the location and date for their first visit to Germany.

The inaugural Grinduro event held in 2021 in mainland Europe was well received by all who attended, but growth in demand required a larger base and a broader mix of trails for 2022. The Grinduro Planning Squad went on the quest to find a location that better defined Grinduro’s ‘perfect party to race ratio’ of gravel road race and mountain bikestyle enduro.

With continued support from Canyon as host sponsor, it made sense to pinpoint Germany as the focal point and sights were soon set on the Eifel region. This low mountain range in western Germany presents Grinduro with endless opportunities; it’s both beautiful and challenging, with a wellbalanced mix of paved roads, gravel trails and singletrack. Flat and hilly, fast and technical, social and competitive.

The new location offers Grinduro the opportunity to support riders from across a larger geographic area, with its base in the heart of the Eifel region, close to the Belgian border, providing easy access from major cities both in Germany, Netherlands and Belgium.

For 2022, Grinduro Germany, along with the other Grinduro events that make up the global series, will be supported by brands such as SRAM, Zipp, Time, komoot, EVOC Sports and founding sponsor Giro Sport Design, who launched the event in 2015 on their home turf of California.

Grinduro Germany is a celebration of all the things that make cycling great, including excellent food, an impressive display of incredible handmade bikes and local art, live music, 2 nights of camping, 3 days of riding and a festival atmosphere. The event runs from 30th September to 2nd October. Entries for Grinduro Germany will be available from 5th April, priced at 199 euros.
